Trailer time..

My new trailer turned up.. I went for a Woodford Lightweight LWT-032.

Feels quite long on the back of the A6.

It fits in the garage ok.

Unfortunately the first load didn't go so well. I didn't felt the bed enough and it got caught.

Its a little tight on over the front edge. Going to fit some trailer board to the floor to raise the front wheels or use some shallow ramps.

I ordered a winch, not a very good one so ordered a better one to replace the below.  I winch is 100% required i'd say with a bike engined car. The clutch did not like the incline on first load.

Diff Swop

After giving the car a really good clean last weekend ready for Goodwood and Stoneleigh next weekend this weekend I decided to swop over the diff.

Nice day, I should really be out in it, not in the garage.

Jacked up and ready to go.

The diff was still leaking, was the right decision to get it swopped out before and long run.

Wheels off, seats out, tunnel cover off.

Back panel also had to come off which I was hoping I could avoid.

Prop disconnected.

Uprights off to allow the drive shafts to come out.

The diff wouldn't come out without the cover being removed. Oil was like mug again. I was going to reuse this but think I'll treat the rebuilt one to some new oil.

Diff out.

New diff in.

Its been a long day, will do some more tomorrow. Need to get some diff oil from somewhere.

Diff rebuild with ATB LSD

Got my diff back today from David Rae Motorsport Transmissions today. Really impressed with the service he offers. He turned the diff round in a few days. I went for a full rebuild and a Quaife ATB LSD.

Resprayed in a nice original colour. A really nice spray job

New seals.

Heres the Quaife ATB LSD. Fancy looking bit of kit.

Overall really impressed with the service. Fingers crossed it works all ok.

Trailer

Thinking about going for a Woodford lightweight trailer instead.. they offer a 10′x6’1”  =  3.05 x 1.85 which seems more suitable than the Brian James  Micromax (1.76x3m) which I think is just going to be too tight or the Brian James C2 BLUE 3.2 x 1.8m which is overall 4.68m long and too long for my garage. The Woodford lightweight trailer LW-032 10′x6’1”  =  3.05 x 1.85 is 4.34m long thats far more suitable for storing inside a garage. The other plus point is it only weights 340kgs.

Some sizes I took from the car.

Approx.

Wheelbase                                                     2385mm
Outside edge of the tyres                                2920mm
Overall Length                                               3400mm
Wheel Width                                                  1750mm
Body Rear width (Rear Arches)                        1780mm
Body Front Width (Front Arches)                      1780mm
Lower Nose height  (Required clearance)           60mm
Nose overhang from leading edge of tyre           250mm

Woodford lightweight trailer LW-032 10′x6’1”  =  3.05 x 1.85 -  Looks perfect, just need to make sure the nose will overhang the front of the trailer bed.

Here is an example of the trailer. Not sure on the size.

Heavy box turned up..

A big heavy box turned up today...

My new 3.38 diff...  :)

Time to make some decisions.. Do I go the LSD route?

Diff Leak

Took off the diffuser off to check all the nuts/bolts on the rear end to check they were all tight. The car has done 700 ish miles now. Everything was a tight as the day I fitted it all so was pleased with that.

I wasn't pleased to be greeted with an  pool of oil from the diff.  Looks like its coming out the front of the diff.

Need to look at some options.
