Oil top up.

After giving the car a good drive today I checked the oil and it had gone down slightly. I guess now the system is well bed its filled any air pockets there might have been. It was only down by 3-4mm but was still down from where I had originally filled it.

Sorry didn't get a picture of the dipstick with the low oil level.

Clean dip stick.

Nearly there.
Topped up.

Healtech Road Test

After the kit was setup it was out for a road test, I did a few miles to allow the engine/oil to get up to temperature.

Pulled the first gear at 5-6k and the engine cut perfectly and it slipped into gear. Next gear was at 7-8k and again it cut perfectly and it slipped into gear, it was quickly time to brake and slow down.

More tests at higher RPM the gears kept slipping in perfectly. The Healtech was working perfectly.

Its totally transformed the car, its so much faster when at speed and the shifting make it much easier to concentrate on the road/steering rather than messing with the clutch and revs.

The cut time being set to 80ms could be a little high, will at 60-70 to see how this works. See if the car lurches a little less.

Overall I am really impressed with the Healtech shifter.

Healtech Quickshifter setup

A break in the rain meant I could get the car out the garage and setup the quickshifter.

The Quickshifter easy software has a wizard that runs through each required measurement to get the basic setup.

Main information screen.

Menu screen.

This is not the wizard but it works in the same way..

The first screen checks the engine RPM is the same as detailed within the app.

A lower and upper RPM can be set to a range where the quickshifter will cut the engine firing.

The user can then fit the cut off test button and the engine will pause for a moment but then continue to run.

On the wizard you also have to setup the sensor sensitivity.

The user then sets the cut off time period. Its looks like it has set mine to 80ms as a default. I was happy with this for the first road test.  In auto mode it takes the default and then speeds it up with increased RPM.

In expert mode you can basically change any setting.

Healtech Quickshifter Easy

Really like the Healtech gear..  Already had a couple of bits and its seems well made and well engineered.

I didn't originally go for the Healtech quickshifter as it wasn't a cheap option and wanted to try the clutch switch option. After that fail the next cost effective option was the Dynajet Quickshifter, now its time to bite the bullet and get the real deal. Stuart a fellow builder had already ordered one so decided to give it a go.

Ordered from www.bikersdiscountstore.co.uk. Good service, turned up quick just a pain they only ship to the card holders address.

Comes in two packs, one the main module and then a loom pack thats specific for the bike. The Healtech shifter cuts the spark and not the fuel so just runs four cables to each coil pack and then a sensor on the gear selector. A major bonus for me is the device can stay engine side and no more additional wiring under the scuttle.

My current setup without the Healtech fitted.

Removed the microswitch I fitted, shame but it might come in use later down the line.

Removed the original bolt holding the gear lever in place.

The kit comes with a new fixing bolt.

The healtech kit piggy backs off the original wiring loom.

No where near as neat as my original wiring, will tidy up later.

Fixed the module to the airbox with some velcro.

A little tidier but still needs work. Will clean up the cabling later.

Raining out so will have to setup at a later date.

Mugged off!

So my bargain Ebay quickshifter turns out to be faulty and the seller an absolute arse so decided to go another route.

Careful buying used off Ebay, i'd recommend buying new for anyone else.

bits and bobs..

Some garage time while it rains (Lots).

Cut the arch protectors to the correct profile and fixed them on. Not completely happy with them but they will do until the summer when I will replace if they haven't fallen off by then.

The rear view mirror is fine when you don't have a helmet on but with a helmet on its really difficult to see anything. So sadly I was sat in the garage with my helmet on adjusting the mirror. Its now in a much lower position. Looking forward to checking it out on the road.

Wanted to investigate how to fit the crutch straps, so out came the drivers seat.  My original plan was to fit the crutch strap to the same fixings the waist harness fixes to but this won't work as the seat pillar fixings will get in the way. Looks like I will need to fix to the steel cross seat supports but its going to be tight.

Quick Shifter Wiring

So the quickshifter normally piggy backs off the Honda loom. I am going to hardwire the quickshifter as all my wiring is located under the scuttle.

First off I disconnected the Honda clutch switch from my microswitch.

Then it was to locate the lines going to the top injectors.

They were easy to locate once I referred back to my wiring diagram.

All connected up to the quickshifter.

Hooked up to the PC, I enabled the quickshifter and turned on the single time mode.

The PC5 and Quickshifter is tucked up nicely under the dash.

Back together, was going to take it out for a spin but it was dark and cold!!!  Fingers crossed for nice weather at the weekend.

Arch Protectors

The arches have taking a beating from the git and shit all over the roads.

`Got some protectors but the profile is wrong on the lower edge..Will need to try and cut them to shape.

Quick Shifter

Been doing some research on the quickshifter, I think the Honda clutch switch will allow for a smoother change by not a full power flatshift.

Dynojet offer a quickshifter expansion module that plugs into the power commander, it comes without the sensor/switch which is good for me as I can use the microswitch I have already installed.

The expansion module connectors to the top injectors and to the power commander, the module will be used to kill the top and lower injectors on gear changes.

Got a bargain off ebay!

The only thing missing was a plug I needed to plug the switch into the expansion ports on the power commander.  Ordered one off ebay.
