It was suggested to me that I get the diff bung undone before progressing much further has its difficult to get at once everything is in place.
On first inspection it looked like the bung had been rounded off, tried to undo it and I was write the hex bit just spun round in the bung. Tried pretty much everything to get it undone, heating it, hammering in bigger bits, using chisels to knock it undone but nothing would move it.
Found a new diff plate on Ebay and a new bung..
